I distinctively remember Kimi saying he's not driving next year (2010) without a winning car. Well, does he want more winning car as compared to commorodary. Surely I think he wants more and more winning car. In fact he probably doesn't even take anything else in consideration (unpolitical person).
Keep in mind that he will be the oldest driver on the grid as well. So he wouldn't stay there for awfully too long, which would work great for Sebastian. This would give chance to Hulkenberg to hitch a ride with Lotus and finally get out of the 2nd class cars to start shinning. And also Bottas could then move out of Williams. It's a win-win situation, very exciting.
I also agree it's a good decision by Mark. Either he knows RedBull is going to decline with 2014 rules, or it's just the whole situation with Vettel is getting over his head, second of which is more likely one I guess. You could argue that Vettel's got the better of him, which might be true, still though you never know if new rules could suit Mark better.
Regardless of that he's 36 and it's the perfect time to make the switch in his age and with Porsche just making the return. He will be very respected and noticed among the new community, which he was once a part of.
What will Kimi do now, what will Iceman do now is the wonder. What will Torro Rossos do. This is going to be a brilliant couple of races ahead of us.
It's easy to know in hindsight. Of course it looked bad, just not THAT bad. Pointless argument. He was very successful and it just reminds us how very badly things can go. I hope his family can recover from this. Very sad thing to witness.
I don't mind them hairpins in XRR all 2much anymore. Last 2-3 races I did with it were full of them anyway.
25-30kg is 2much of a ballast with 23%. Just feels 2heavy, 2 slow and kills tires 2much. 15-20kg next up whilst still shooting to reach that 42.5.
So, here it is: 15-20kg is perfect. While 15 is little bit too fast, 20 is little bit too much bare for tires and slightly too slow.
Let's say 17-18kg with 23% is the perfect measure for XRR on this track is my conclusion from all the testing so far.
This of course makes it more difficult to make setup for XRR with extra ballast on. Still, I think r2r2 should be very possible on it, while not really possible on FZR with slight chance that it is possible on FZR. So, that's to be tested a little bit. If r2r2 race set can work on FZR, then XRR's ballast needs to drop to something like 10kg.
There is obviously the other way. Making the restriction just engine on XRR and then engine+weight restricting FZR+FXR, but that would be ludacritious, when those two cars are already balanced with each other and will be used far more than XRR. And there you have it, I recommend FZR: 20%, XRR 23%+18kg and FXR 23% for GT2 class.
What was your XR2 laptime Fade? Come to SimSync server so we test it out sometime Fade!
So here is how my testing went today:
FZR is horrible with rear tires with so many slow corners/so little straights. R2R3 probably have to be used in race = minimum 0.6sec per lap deficit and it uses 1/3 more fuel than other cars, so very heavy start of stint and slightly longer pitstops.
Basically, what you wanna do is add say 0.8sec to FZR's quali time (42.2 for now, but take off 0.5sec there from my laptime for those who are outstandingly quick in fz2 and you have 41.7) to have relative pace with FXR/XRR for real comparison. Qualifying means little in 16hours race where overtaking is very easy. So you have target pace of 42.5. And I drove FXR into 42.6 when I always lacked little bit of special FXR skill for hairpins! So, those two cars are spot on with each other.
I'd suggest dropping XRR's restriction to 23% and giving it some weight ballast, for this track restriction. With 24% it goes 43.0 and that means it lacks 0.5sec pace.
Perhaps 25-30kg on top of 23% for 42.5 targeted pace. I'll test that out some other day, because I need to also see what impact on tires does the extra weight has in xrr.
Would be really great if more people tested restrictions, the track is really cool and I can't really do stint for every car.
I've never seen Lotus criticize anyone about anything (don't even recall them criticizing Grosjean after everything he did, nor any of their competitors) and the first time they're doing it they might just have a point when they point out how Pirelli is starting to change the game in favor of those who whined.
"This is exactly what they did in the last few races of last year. They brought harder and harder tyres and we just ended up doing one stop." That was exactly what was happening last year and Vettel was then winning more and more. Let me remind you, this year Vettel was the first one to cry about the Pirelli tire!
"And last year they said they didn't want to interfere in the championship so they took conservative tyres, but I never really understood what that meant."
Personally, yea like hell they didn't interfere. They interfered more and more to side with RedBull. Keep the game fair from start to finish or we might as well bring back Birdgestone.
Bottom line, Pirelli should butt out already. It's not their job to favor ones above others. Their job is to make drivers stop twice in pits on non-abrasive tracks and three time on abrasive tracks for new rubber and that should have been clear a long time ago.
Interestingly, Vergne gets one good result and instantly Helmut Marko and the whole press hails him as the next star..
I took some stats out and Ricciardo beat him 15:5 in quali and 13:7 in races last year. This year Ricciardo is leading him 4:3 in quali, but now loosing 3:4 in races, so it's first time ever Vergne is leading something. This battle is finally developing.
What karma are you talking about?? Hulk was never involved in an incident prior to this and I still haven't seen a replay of it so can't talk about what happened in particular incident, but for sure it's not karma.
Horrid. I think I saw that crane passing by after the race when they interviewed Newey with Gutierezs car, thinking to myself wow that's embarassing.. just dragging the car like that up in the air in front of the whole pit that slow, when you can use a truck. Terrible mistake.
